Mary Dougherty, author of Life in a Northern Town, will speak at Minocqua Public Library on June 14, as part of the Northwoods Book Festival.
Mary Dougherty, author of "Life in a Northern Town," will speak at Minocqua Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 14.
In 2007 Dougherty moved with her family from St. Paul to Bayfield, where she opened a restaurant, launched a blog and became involved in a number of nonprofit organizations.
Accompanying Dougherty's recipes are exquisite photographs and her reflections on her family and their life in the small town on the shores of Lake Superior. The author's love of food, family and community fills the pages and inspires readers to connect within their own communities.
The Northwoods Book Festival is a joint project of six libraries in northern Wisconsin: Boulder Junction Public Library, Frank B. Koller Memorial Library in Manitowish Waters, Mercer Public Library, Minocqua Public Library, Presque Isle Community Library, and Winchester Public Library.
All programs are free and open to the public. The 2018 Northwoods Book Festival series is sponsored by a grant from the St. Matthias Thrift Shop in Minocqua.
